Happy Bucks |
The conference was a fantastic experience form Renee- Sue; Renee; Dennis and Tim attended excellent workshops and had a great time! Tommy Hill loved his trip to Vegas but never did reveal how well he did at the card table! Oh well - better luck next time! Al Sylvester kicked in a couple bucks and is just glad to be back. We missed you Al and glad you could make it for breakfast. Talk about a guy that enjoys life. Steve Code tossed in a buck and reported how great the golfing was in Carolina. Oh Stevie boy did we miss you! Ted Mann was glad to report that the golf pictures are finally on the web site. Sue finally figured out how to send them on the wire. Sue kicked up her heals at the Karaoke night at the conference last weekend. She was quite concerned that all of the commotion didn't scare the children that were present. Tim Funchion reported that our club received a citation at the conference for the dedication and hard work it does through Rotary for our community. |

None this week! |

Our guests this week was Bill Humber. Bill teaches at Seneca College and is a noted author, radio personality and baseball officiando. He resides in Bowmanville and is Al Strike and Chuck Cattran's neighbour on Beech Avenue. Bill talked to us about several baseball experiences, the many books he's written, how he got hooked on the game at the old maple leaf Stadium t the foot of Bathurst Street and behind the Tip Top Tailor building on the lakeshore in Toronto. It brought back many fond memories for this scribe since I like Bill, shared many of the same experiences as a youth. The talk ended with a resounding version of Casey at the Bat read by Bill and our own Kevin Anyan. Like the poem we were all saddened by the end when the talk was over. Thanks Bill for your visit and your talk. Come again and "take us out to the ball game!" Oh yes I predict "Phillie" to win the series tonight! |

Ace of Hearts 50/50
Draw |
The draw this week was for $850. Sue McClellan owned the lucky ticket. She failed to draw the Ace of Hearts but did pull a 10 of diamonds. Remember everyone - Ross always says, "Good luck at getting your ticket pulled next week!" That can't happen if your not here. |
