There were no birthdays to celebrate this week.

Congratulations to Chuck and Lois Cattran on the occasion of their wedding anniversary. All of your friends at Rotary wish you all many more happy years of the same. See you next week Chuck!

Elves at work!

See our Picture Gallery for more pictures.

This week was the Club assembly. Among many points discussed the following were noted:

· Don Gleed fund raising - plans continue for the following initiatives Men's Shopping; Xmas trees; Auction; Ribfest - lots happening and lots of work ahead. We need everyone to pitch in. These are major projects.

· Pauline updated us on the Special needs children's party! Everything is a go- Rotarians send the names of the children that are attending from your family so that they may receive an appropriate gift. Still looking for Santa's helpers. Please let Angie know if your son or daughter would be interested in helping. Thanks!

· Wayne updated us on Citizenship, Dictionary and Youth Rotary Club at BHS; Ted Mann added details of the newest initiative Native Youth Bursary program.

· Brian Bontje reviewed general Administration activity- Golf Tournament; Road clean up; Rotary members Xmas Party; future fellowship St. Patrick's day and June Boat Cruise on Scugog.

· Steve Code still looking for a Chair for membership Committee- thanked everyone for brining on new members- although our goal was 6 perhaps we can consider 10 this year! Thanks to Renee, Fred and Bob S, Linda Vignale ( new member); Ryan Frank and Nancy Reid (soon to be inducted) have joined the club.

· The theme for this year's auction is "The British Invasion"

· Renee updated us on our "Child in Cambodia"

· Assistant District Governor Ted gave us a quick summative review of being "Connected to the District 7070 and reminded us that we are all part of the district. Individual clubs are important, yes but we are all part of the bigger TEAM - together everyone achieves more."

· 92% were absent form the District conference which we all pay for- kindly try to support this in the future.

· He noted that budget expenses go up; revenue remains the same or is decreasing.

· Canadian dues per capita are encouraging. Matching the grants from the government and the Gates foundation is our current challenge. It boils down to $1000 per club would do it! Polio has been beat - there are only a few pockets left to fix. Keep up the good work Rotarians

· Following the official meeting many volunteers went into the sanctuary and stuffed Christmas boxes to be sent off later. What a great idea Sue! Thanks for organizing this. More pictures of the stuffing exercise can be found in our Picture Gallery.

Ace of Hearts 50/50 Draw

The draw this week was for $1150. "Happy Sue McClellan" owned the lucky ticket. She was quick to draw a ten of Hearts leaving the pot for next week's winner who might be you!
