Today Robyn Neal from CMHC spoke to the club. She is the Business Development Account Manager for Southern Ontario.

CMHC is a federal crown coporation. This means that the corporation is funded by the federal government and then all of the profits go back to the government.

The original mandate of the CMHC was to help house war veterans after WWII, when they returned home.

Not only do they provide mortgages to prospective home owners they also offer a wide array of programs to help those that need assistance to get a home or renovate to fit specific needs. They provide mortgage loan insurance. The corporation provides information to those who need assistance. Their aim to place people in socially affordable housing.

The CMHC provides money to people with disabilities to renovate their home to make it more accessible. Though there is a criteria that needs to be met first.

If there is anything that has to do with home ownership, from research to development the CMHC is involved. The CMHC is committed to helping Canadians find affordable and suitable housing.

Weekly Smile

Getting away from their high-stress jobs, a couple spends relaxing weekends in their motor home. When they found their peace and quiet disturbed by well-meaning, but unwelcome, visits from other campers, they devised a plan to assure themselves some privacy. Now, when they set up camp, they place this sign on the door of their RV: "Insurance agent. Ask about our term-life package."
