The Annual Rotary Children's Christmas Party was once again a great success with about 140 children, parents, grandparents, friends and Rotarians in attendance at the Clarington Beech Centre on Sunday December 3, 2017.  Everyone was delighted with the craft table, decorating gingerbread men and women, face painting, and balloon art. But of special interest was the presence of Soper Creek Wildlife Rescue who set up a display for the children and brought five unique animals for the children to learn about and pet.

Someone cannot wait to open his gift from Santa
Can you imagine being able to pet a rabbit?  Of course you can.  But how about a groundhog or a possum or a bobcat or even a skunk?  What a unique experience for the children!  Our sincerest thanks to Soper Creek Wildlife Rescue for providing such a delightful opportunity.

And what is a Christmas Party without a Christmas dinner.  Following pizza hor d'oeuvres, KCC Gourmet Catering provided a delicious turkey dinner with all the fixin's served up by Rotarians and volunteers.

And of course, after singing a few Christmas carols there was the much anticipated visit from Santa!  With our Respite Care Givers taking on the role of Santa's elves, Santa distributed gifts for all the girls and boys.  And as a memento of the occasion, Hunter's Sports Photography took a picture of each child receiving their gift from Santa.

Special thanks are due to our Respite Care Givers for assisting Santa and for being there for the children.  Thanks also to the Rotary Rooky Committee, chaired by Amy Barney, for planning the event; to Lloyd Rang for being such a capable emcee; and to all the Rotarians who volunteered their time to once again make this event such a success.
