Sat. October 13, 2012 – Bowmanville Rotary – first event at Clarington Central Secondary School

About 80 volunteers came out.  We ran 6 production lines for at least half the time, then 5 lines, then 3 lines toward the end.  We started the video presentation about 8:45am, started packaging about 9:05am, and took a 15 minute break half way through, then completed packaging about 12:30pm – about 3 hrs & 5 minutes of actual packaging time.  We originally planned to do Four Skids (132 boxes), but did an extra 5 more extra boxes for a total of 29,592 meals (137 boxes).

  • 110 boxes, 23,760 meals were taken by Speroway to go to Haiti.
  • 23 boxes. 4,968 meals were given to Fred Mandryk – which were used firstly to display at the Oct 19-21, 2012 Rotary conference in Richmond Hill, then were later distributed locally by Fred as such:

         . 6 boxes (1,296 meals) given to the Dutch Christian Church

         . 9 boxes (1,944 meals) given to St. Vincent de Paul

         . 8 boxes, (1,728 meals) given to the Salvation Army              

         . 4 boxes, 864 meals were given to Carl Nabein of KAHC to take to Haiti.

Wed. May 1, 2013 Bowmanville High School

We packaged 50 boxes (10,800 meals).  Approximately 70 students did this event.  The 50 boxes went to El Salvador with the Speroway team.
 

Saturday November 2, 2013 – Belleville Rotary Event

Held at Loyalist College.  Setup by Birgit Wartenberg.  We packed two skids plus 2 boxes; a total of 68 boxes, 14,688 meals were done this day.   Belleville Rotary kept 24 boxes to deliver to local food bank and the remaining 44 boxes were taken by Kids Against Hunger Canada – destined for distribution in Haiti.
 

Saturday November 30, 2013 – Etobicoke Rotary Event

Gill Dugas was our main contact.  Fred Mandryk & Wayne McConnachie had first presented to the Etobicoke Club on Nov. 6th at their regular Rotary meeting.  On Nov 30, 2013 we packed two skids (66 boxes, 14,256 meals).  The Salvation Army, 2152 Kipling Ave, took some of the boxed food and some other boxes were distributed with Rotary members to go to other locations.  KAHC took 15 boxes – to be delivered to Haiti.
 

Saturday January 11, 2014 – Ajax Rotary, with Donna Bright & Kleo Tobias

Held at the Salvation Army (house of Hope) 35 King’s Crescent in Ajax – ran 5 lines most of the day.  We started at 9:30am with two lines then by about 10:30am we had five lines going, then reducing after 1pm.  There were two shifts of volunteers, about 50 per shift.  One was scheduled for 10:00 or 10:30, then 1pm.  We packed 186 boxes, 40,176 meals.  Ten boxes went to Salvation Army, 22 boxes were taken by KAHC for Haiti, and 154 boxes went out to Speroway.  Finished packing at 3pm with two lines.
