Mayor Adrian Foster was introduced by Rotarian Don Gleed.  Mayor Foster presented a broad ranging update on Clarington and its economy.  Mayor Foster began by indicating that farming was still one of Clarington's major industries.  He continued to touch upon a number of other items including:
  • the planned GO Train extension expected to be in Clarington by 2024,
  • the Courtice Kiss & Ride,
  • a major redevelopment of Lakeridge Health Bowmanville,
  • the addition of more long-term care and hospice beds in Clarington,
  • the new businesses planning to locate in Clarington,
  • a major review and rationalization of by-laws that is taking place,
  • property taxes, and
  • the impact of the refurbishment of the Darlington NGS on the region.
After answering a number of questions, Mayor Foster was thanked by president Reg Freethy.
